On 11 July 2025 Inclement weather and a nasty cold picked up on the ferry might have dampened our spirits, but Nick at the Iona Community Welcome Centre had a warm welcome awaiting this dripping wet author and her hubby!
Nestled into a cosy window seat with a hot cuppa, beside an extremely cool WRCC display, I sang (by God’s grace!) & shared the origins of William Ridley and the Celtic Cross.
While the novel is entertaining, it doesn’t shy away from the tough stuff life deals us. More importantly, William’s story offers a touch of every pilgrim’s perilous journey, while pointing to the glorious hope & salvation only Christ can offer.
For a lovely wee hour we book lovers forgot the storm and travelled to Tantallon Castle, immersed in William Ridley’s epic adventures!
Thank you so much, Nick and the Iona Community Welcome Centre team, for hosting this brilliant event & your enthusiastic support of William Ridley and the Celtic Cross & my albums, The Plan & Waiting for My King!

Did you know “Let Glasgow Flourish” is only a snippet of the city’s original motto?
In days gone by it was widely proclaimed,
“Let Glasgow flourish by the preaching of the Word and praising of Thy Name.”
So it seemed fitting to open the 850th anniversary celebration at Glasgow Cathedral with
“Praise You, Lord of All.”
Prior to the unveiling of the beautiful new stained glass windows commissioned for the celebration, I was honoured to play a request for “Every Time it Rains”. My love song for Scotland echoes the deep longing for home and family my great-grandfather (x6), Magnus Redland, must have felt when he was pressed into naval service & taken from his beloved Alba far across the sea.
I imagined Magnus standing beside me, delighted, for this fortunate lass had come full circle, returning to Scotland to share the glorious hope of Christ that he knew to be true!
Then I was joined by 100+ voices wafting to the rafters on Amazing Grace in this ancient place where men emboldened by the Holy Spirit brought the Word of God to the people of Glasgow in their own tongue for the very first time. Talk about Jesus shivers! You know, when every hair on your neck stands at attention because His presence is so powerful. Absolutely awe-inspiring & a privilege I won’t forget.

While retrieving his wooden sword from the ancient ruins of Tantallon Castle, William Ridley never dreamed of becoming a Defender of the Faith. But when demons attack and God Himself intervenes…Everything Changes!
One stormy night at Tantallon and the discovery of a Celtic Cross catapults young William into battle with forces unseen, causing his friends and classmates to doubt his sanity. Yet, even if they should believe him, how will he stand against a legion of dark forces intent on destroying him and everything he holds dear?
Set amid Scotland’s legendary landscape and often bloody history, the spiritual warfare is real, the path often dark. Hold fast as William Ridley and the Celtic Cross, an epic coming-of-age adventure, tests the bonds of friendship and faith, endures heartbreak and betrayal, and points to the hope found in the supernaturally glorious Saviour, Jesus!
